mounted the new wheels (sort of).

Got the wheels and tires mounted and balanced at Speedstar during the past week and installed (well, tried to) them yesterday. Unfortunately, the fronts require a small spacer  to clear the Endless caliper, just 2 or 3mm. It’s also a little more aggressive than I would’ve liked (the fronts anyway). I used a 5mm spacer and it pokes just a tad. Nothing a little more camber can’t fix but, it’s a bit more aggressive looking than the rears. The rears ended up fitting fine, had to shave/cut my rear quarters, where there’s a corner and it couldn’t be rolled. But it looks as though it fits, hopefully not too much rubbing issues. I have a set of SPC shims coming in soon so I can get it all aligned and run a bit more negative camber all around.

I’m  actually not wow’ed by the wheels on the car, unfortunately. Perhaps I should’ve went with a brighter silver like the old SSR Type C / Competitions I have. In any case,  I like them – no doubt about that. Just not as impressed as I thought I would be with them on. I’ll judge again when the car is dialed in and everything fits.

unveiling.

So the new wheels… it was relatively new when I went to Tokyo Auto Salon 2012, and when I saw them on the Aeroover Nissan Cube, I knew these were definitely on the short list of wheels I’d like to own sooner or later. Granted, now that I look at the picture of the Cube again, it was running 18″ step lipped versions, whereas the ones I ordered are 17″ reverse lip. In retrospect, I kinda feel like I should’ve ordered the step lipped versions as I like those more, but we’ll see how these reverse lips look on the Fit first. I feel like 18′s would be way too big on the Fit, unless it was on air (like the Cube), but those step lips look so good.

christmas in march.

Just got back from Vegas a couple days ago and picked up all my goods from Rachel @ Nextmod.

Awesome feeling to pick up new wheels! Also picked up some Junction Produce for the Passat. haha… VIP Passat? hahaha probably not…

Black & gold JP fusa seems pretty uncommon, haven’t seen that many around anyway. I’m trying not to do too much to the Passat, probably just coilovers for this season if I’m lucky.

The new SSR lug nuts are pretty sick too, they come individually wrapped in clear plastic (though there’s no box to hold them, that kinda sucks).

On the topic of well packaged, SSR really does a good job with their wheel packing… double boxed from More Japan, foam, cardboard covering the face, and the box is nearly the same height as a 9.5″ box from Rays (the SSR’s are 8″). Not bad SSR, not bad at all.

2013 build on the fit.

Nothing too crazy lined up for 2013 for the Fit…  just audio and new wheels I think.

I ended up driving down to the states today to pick up a bunch of packages with some friends, one of those packages were most of the bits of audio going into the Fit next year. Check out the pics below! I’m missing the front components because Amazon screwed up my order and it never shipped. -_-;;
